BOULDER, Colo., June 18 –
Intrepid Travel’s new research and development division, The Travel Lab, announces the launch of its new luxury Antarctic adventure: a visit to experience the land of the emperor penguin.

The exploration of this region, once the sole domain of scientists and grand emperor penguins, offers travelers a luxury Antarctic adventure. Travelers will spend thirteen days walking along pristine coastlines surrounded by monstrous ice cliffs and previously unclimbed mountains. The focus then turns to wildlife, spending three days experiencing the sheer bedlam and excitement of the emperor penguin colony.

Adventure travelers will spend thirteen days gazing out over pristine Antarctica and visiting remote penguin colonies at Neumayer from a low-impact luxury eco-camp perched atop a 60m icefall. They will kite-surf, skidoo ride, and take several short flights in a DC3 airplane. These adventurers will become some of the very few people to actually set foot in Antarctica and will have plenty of time to take in the breathtaking surroundings.

Adventure travelers with Intrepid on this new Antarctic Adventure will:

– Visit a colony of emperor penguins — Wander along ice blocks, coastlines, and glacial cliffs — Learn to use technical climbing gear — Kite-surf across the endless polar plains — Camp in an eco-camp perched on an ice cliff
